I had DD before I knew better and went by what her pedi said and did rice cereal in her bottles and CIO at 4 weeks. She's a perfectly healthy, mentally and physically, 5 year old. It didn't kill her.

I wouldn't even let a 6 mo old CIO. Babies only cry when they need something, even if it's just comfort. I think it's cruel to deny them their needs just to get them to shut up. They don't stop crying because their needs are met. They stop crying because they realize nobody cares.

Gawd, I hate when people tell me to do it. Definitely 100% against it.

People are always so shocked when I tell them I sleep-trained my baby (3 months old in less than a week) without having to use CIO. I mean really, it's not hard to find a way to help your baby sleep if you just research IMO.

But would you do it exactly the same with future children now that you have more knowledge on these subjects?

Or they pass out from exhaustion.

Definitely. With the exception of a handful of nights, I've never had a problem putting my son to bed.

I'm never having another kid. I'm getting my tubes tied next year because I am one and done.

Ok but if you were to have another child do you think you'd don't the same way, with cereal and CIO so early? Or would you go about it differently?

That too. When I nannied this little girl she was 9 months old and I quit nannying her when she was about 14 months old...I never once let her CIO. I always went in to comfort her, and while it was exhausting at times I would rather be tired than for a baby to think that nobody is there.

I would probably do the same, except maybe hold off on CIO until 6 months. The rice cereal and goat's milk really did fill her up and make her sleep through the night and didn't kill her. I don't see any harm in it, really.

As a newborn, no CIO should not be used. At 6 months+ if it is done properly there is nothing wrong with it.

And for those of you who act like you just let the kid cry until it falls asleep you either do not know how to do CIO OR you heard some horror stories.

My mother gave me rice cereal at 2 weeks old, and I am perfectly fine   did you give goats milk along with breast milk? Or did you wait to wean? If you did breast feed.
