Sign-Shaming as Punishment
posted 3rd Jan
What do you all think of this punishment method.... holding up a sign of some sort to shame your kid?
The last one, number 11 I think is the most horrible. Yes the kid did something wrong and said things he shouldn't... but Tony wet the bed for a long time and it took everything for him to even admit that to me. I cant imagine telling his friends that when he was still a kid... that seems to go a little too far. But maybe Im alone in my thinking!

I think its a awful way of parenting...

It's horrible overall. I'm sure there are a select few who it really works for, but does more harm than good for most kids.

I would never choose to parent that way.

4- disgusting to do to a small child.
6- funny, and not worth a sign shaming...
9- handled poorly
10- stupid excuse she looks fairly young
11- kind of messed up, BUT if he did similar I say it's fair.
The others, liars and thieves I'm all for it.

i dont think its so very horrible. there of course r better and worse things that they could be doing.
*shurg* i dont think its too big of a deal.

I think that's horrible, but I did laugh at the one where the kid pooped and the daddy had to clean it up..Not because of the sign, or the yearbook photo. I was picturing the dad cleaning it up. lol

young kids I don't think it could work for, but teenagers I think so especially with stealing.
quoteposted 3rd Jan
I probably would not do it but I don't think it's that awful.

It's not our type of parenting, and personally I wouldn't ever do it.

#4 was not cool at all!!..The rest no biggy. I don't think its a crappy way of parenting. I use to tell my son that if he didnt graduate high schook I would make him stand outside with a sign. He graduated

I think shaming a child is a strong action and shouldn't be used unless the offense is serious. Peer judgement is also a huge motivator in our society, so if they kid is say, stealing, I can see it. It's a little much for petty situations like not cleaning up some food or something.
However, I find dog shaming pictures hilarious.

some of those were not that bad. like the stealing ones. i would do it when my daughter hits teenage years. i think it COULD have an effect on a teen. a child...not so much.
