The Love Dare.

posted 3rd Jan
I need to do this and stick to it. I'm not religious so ill be skipping the prayer sections and ignoring the scripture, but my SO is on the brink of leaving and I need to do something to change.

It would be soooo good if someone else wanted to start it at the same time and we can hold each other accountable, offer support etc.

We bought the book and started it today actually   we've tried it in the past and always forget after the first few days and give up, but I'm really determined to do the whole thing this time because we have a very up and down relationship. i've heard that it works wonders.

You should both watch the movie Fireproof. Good movie, poor acting in some areas but me and dh both watched it, separately..after he watched it he brought roses to me at my work and told me how much he loved me and wouldn't stop kissing and hugging me. And we were not doing good, he had threatened divorce several times and left me twice. He even said he cried while watching it. I know a balled my eyes out the whole time.

Oh me too a little, but I'm just taking the parts that apply to my ungodly life haha.

Isn't that super religion based though? I'm not sure we could take it seriously

Yeah that's the only problem I had with it. Pray together each night ... Yeah no. Not gonna happen. More power to the people who do, but I'm not gonna fake a religion that neither SO or I have to follow a book.

But if you find a way to move around the godly parts then tell me!

Yay! I don't think I've said anything negative to SO today so I'm going on to day 2 tomorrow. I can't think what to do though, I might bring him breakfast in bed again. I'll hardly see him though as he works 11-10pm and I'm going to a friend's birthday party in the evening

I tried watching Fireproof once a few years ago and couldn't get past the dreadful acting. But I'd like to try again. We are also not religious.

I have that problem too because he works 12 hour shifts at night so there's not always a lot of time to actually implement the love dare.

The guys dad in it tries to talk about God a lot but its not where it ruins the outcome of watching it. I just kind of ignored the religiousy part of it.

Must say even as a Christian it was hard to get through the movie. The acting is not great. But they'd is was done with mostly volunteers so its not that bad! But the sexual made me cry even harder. That ones about being a daddy.

Well it doesn't even mention praying until day 16, so that's a good start at least! Some of them are kind of freaky religious to me and unnecessary to us, so ill just replace them with an act of kindness!
