Does this sound like reflux to you? Every bottle but his night he is spitting up. It isn't only a little and it happens alot, as in not only right after a feeding but it last from feeding to feeding. The other day I counted and it was 19 times in one day. The doctor said it is reflux but me and my mom dont think so. He has been on prevacid for a month and nothing has changed at all. The spit up isnt even the chunky stuff after it was digested but it is just like the formula. He is on the Similac reduce spit up kind and nothing has changed. He has been on that for over a month too. He is 13 weeks and weighs 16.5 lbs (born 10lbs) he has slowed down on what he is eating it was 5 oz every 2 hours and now it is 4 every 3 which is more like what he is suppose to be eating so I know he is not over eating, and we try to burp him every oz, We are going to a specialist for a second opinion but I was wondering what everyone else thinks.
Quoting Brandi Lynn White:" No sorry it wasnt chunky, and Zantac did nothing but make him sream bloody murder"
Sorry must of read that wrong. It could still be reflux. Our oldest ended up having it and we didn't know for first five months of her life. The reflux medicine worked for her, but it took few weeks then they had to up the dosage as she grew. Honestly you may not know for sure until you get him tested.
sounds like reflux even more so since he slowed down eating since the meds. dd did that because they eat more to reduce the pain of the burning spit up so you know the meds are working if they slow down a lot. dd is on zantac and im sure previcid is the same or close... its not supposed to stop the spit up just reduce burn when they do. dd is 5 months and is on 2ml in the am and 2ml at night and still has very bad days and some good days. we recently started baby food, baby oatmeal and once in a great while cereal. im not a fan of the cereal but some days its so bad i have no choice.
