Mamas who co-slept

posted 3rd Jan
I'm pretty much still co-sleeping. But SO wants me to stop. We bought LO a new bed, & re-did his bedroom. LO will fall asleep just fine in his own bed, he wont cry..or try to fight, I just have to give him his stuffed kitty.

I feel like a bad mom, honestly. I think of weird excuses to check on him. Mainly to make sure he's still in his bed, comfy, and nothing is blocking his airway. He's been in his room for about 2 weeks now. But, 4 hours after he falls asleep he usually cries and I will go get him ASAP. I have a hard time sleeping without him, he ha no issues sleeping with me. SO does, he wants the baby out of our room and in his own. I feel like it's me keeping my son from sleeping in his own room. =/ I'm just not ready. I just wait for him to cry so I can go get him.

What would you do? I feel like they both would sleep better if our son was in his own room.
My main thing is actually keeping him from crying, so I don't go pick him up.
He's a few days from 21 months

No, we tried that, he has to have it completely dark with some sort of white noise in the background.

I have co slept with my eldest and refuse to co sleep again. My eldest was 7 by the time he stopped sleeping with me. Only because my husband and I got together. Now every night at 12 years old he is on the couch and not in his bed. He started out in his bed but would end up in mine. Not because I brought him there becaus he just came to my bed.

Only advise that I can give you is break the habit now by putting him back in his bed. Don't pick him up just get him to lay back down and soothe him by patting his back until he falls back asleep. I agree with your SO you need your LO out of your bed.

This is one of the main reasons we're getting a bigger bed. When DD was first born I wanted to co-sleep and DH said no. I ended up doing it anyways and now she'll fall asleep in her crib but I can't wait til her night feeding where she ends up in bed with me. I can't sleep of she doesn't. Can you get a video monitor?

That's what I'm worried about when we finally move LO to her own room. She has her own bed in our room but she mostly sleeps with us but her room is on the other side of the house and that's too far and I know i'll end up getting her and bringing her in our bed a lot.

We bed shared and DD is now 13 months and with DS coming soon I want to bed share with him, our solution was to put her in her own bed, but still in our room.... she does fine and actually sleeps better in her own bed but occasionally has nights where she wants in between me and her daddy and we don't stop her. When we tried putting her in her own room, it didn't go well, so she will stay in our room in her own bed for now.

I co sleep with my son who is 21 months as well, mostly because DH works at night and I like having him there with me. I used to put him in his crib but then stopped because I would get him at night and not remember in the morning (he wakes up). I think we will build his bed soon and see how that works because on the weekends DH is a bed hog lol.

Right now we can't afford one, we really need to save any extra money for moving out..or else we wont be able too. I have a regular monitor.. I just don't like the idea of him in his own room. I have this deathly fear that someone is going to brake into our apartment and steal our son. It's really dumb, but I feel like it's my worst nightmare. I keep his door open during this time, so that he can just walk to our room if he needs to. But I'm stating to think I should shut his door, I could hear him. You walk out of our door and 2 feet in front is LO's door.

We have this amazing angelcare monitor and it has a sensor so if the baby stops breathing it will vibrate under the baby and also beep on the mothers end of the monitor so you will wake up and can go check on you baby.

It will also go of if the baby gets out of bed, so you can go see why they are up.

It also has a great video with night vision and this walketalke thing. So if you hav the monitor in your hand and your baby wakes yo you can talk to him as you walk back to the room. I say "mommy is coming"

I love this monitor and breathing sensor thing so much. It has helped us to sleep better since the baby was born.

We do co sleep but not at nap time.

I would suggest you give it a try and it might help you rest better. I think it is well worth the money. The thing that wakes the baby if they don't breath can also be purchased with out the video monitor for less I think.

I think this might be something for you to look into buying.

Just make sure to check the windows at night, see if that helps. LO has her crib right next to our bed and I have to pull her closer and touch her to fall asleep. With my older 2 they share a room and since someone took the screen off one of their windows I always check their windows and get up at least twice to check on them. I mean if you're not ready to switch him then you shouldn't do it IMO, it will only cause unnecessary stress.

We got ours at bbru over a year ago and it works good. the only thing I don't love about it is that the hand held part has a short batterie life. So sometimes it will start to poop out while the baby is napping. IDK maybe I got a bad one. But besides that I love it
