night time/nap time potty training

posted 3rd Jan
Eli has almost got the concept of potty training during the day; but what should I do about potty training while he is sleeping? What did you mommas do?

I think maybe no liquids for a set amount of time before bed, make sure he goes pee before bed, get a waterproof mattress protector and hope for the best, lmao! He'll get it when he's ready.

I'm having these thoughts right now too. I think we're waiting till he can pull his pants down and up (pretty much till he can go all on his own). He won't pee while asleep, but he will right after he wakes up and he stays in his room for a bit till he wakes DH up in the morning.

I just waited until they were ready for that part. My daughter just started waking up dry, so I let her wear big girl panties to bed (and had waterproof sheets) it was never an issue. I've always let her have a small glass of water next to her bed, so I wasn't going to change that.

So I should just put him to bed in his underwear and hope for the best? That is how I was going about it already. I guess I will keep at it.

That's probably how I'll do it. Maybe with towels under the sheet too to further protect the mattress!

It is a plastic mattress anyways. I saw some bedtime pee pads. I thought about getting them but I do not want him to think peeing in the bed is acceptable

Don't tell him off if he has an accident though! I'd just put something under the sheet so it's not obvious to him what you're doing it for, kwim?

We have always just transitioned to underwear at nap time and bedtime after daytime was going good. Going potty before laying down was also instituted. I also try to get him up about the same time every morning and go straight to the bathroom.
