Will I ever labor naturally??

posted 3rd Jan
So this is my 4th pregnancy and with all three I had to be induced. I was induced for 2 at 39 weeks because of blood pressure and I wasn't showing progression at all. The last I was induced at 40+1 weeks because I was done and not even dilated. Today I went in and they have set induction for the 30th if baby doesn't come by then. My doctor also plans to strip me before then to see if it will help...(if I dilate enough) He already checked me and I haven't dilated a bit. He said he would like me to labor so we don't have to induce again so he said to start walking a lot and stay as active as I can with periods of rest.....My question is...have you ever not labored naturally? I really want to...but it seems my body just isn't going too...I thought the more pregnancies you have the easier your body labors? That is not the case here....:/ HELP! (( PS- also ever since he checked me today my contractions have been more frequent and a bit stronger..could something of happened?)

You know you can refuse to be induced, right? Just b/c a doctor sets you up with an appt doesn't mean you have to go along with it.

You can just wait it out and let your body do it's thing (even if it means going "over"). No woman has ever been pregnant for ever, and just about every body has the ability to labor naturally. All it takes is time and patience. Baby will come when he/she is ready

Just deny being induced. Seems like your last pregnancy there was no reason to induce you yet, you were only 1 day overdue, that's stupid.

I do know that...it was an elective induction because my husband is a firefighter and he only has a certain set days off a month and they aren't too flexible with his schedule so we wanted to make sure he was there..

Then don't bitch about not being able to "labor naturally" if you CHOSE not too.

I had protein and high blood pressure but it just showed up at 39 weeks so I lasted with that for a week and it wasn't going away so they induced. It was also during the blizzard of 10' so if i were to have gone into labor by some miracle i would have had my baby at home considering everyone was snowed in for 3 days with the blizzard...

Well then, in your case you need to decide which is more important - your body laboring naturally or your hubby being there for it.

I would go ahead and let them strip your membranes - walk, sex, squats, spicy foods, evening primrose oil....maybe this time you'll get lucky and baby won't be so stubborn. Good luck!

LOL, my oh my...I wasn't "bitching" if that is what you call it. I was just wondering if your body could actually not labor on its own...Obviously we would like that, but if not...we will do the induction...

Why are you being induced before your due date? I would refuse and try to go to 42 weeks. I mean you're making this post because you want to go naturally. So call and cancel the induction..

Why be induced before your due date?? Give your body time......baby will come eventually. Most give it to 42 weeks. My son came at 40 weeks and 5 days. Your body was made to do this just give it some time and let it do it's thing.

Yea I'm hoping she isn't stubborn. I'm already getting twice weekly nst's because of my history with pre-e and its starting to show now....but not as bad as with my other's...I just hope it doesn't escalate...:/

I understand. I'm 30 weeks with my third and my blood pressure was pretty high today. I don't have a history of it with my last two, so my doc was a little concerned. Hopefully it doesn't become and issue.

Yea, its a pain sometimes....I hope you don't get it..30 weeks is early!! With everything I had to have done and am now getting done, I would have hated had it started at 30 weeks...I'll pray for ya mama!

Sometimes you HAVE to be induced because its unsafe for mom/baby....

OP I know how you feel sort of. with my first I was induced because of high blood pressure and protein in my urine at almost 39 weeks. They have to induce you/watch you because Pre E can get really bad really fast. I am now wondering if I will have to be induced with the rest of my pregnancies because of it!!

I hope not..I ended up with a csection that I feel is from being induced. I really want my VBAC!!

If I were you I would walk as much as you can and have a lot of sex just do what everyone thinks will jump start labor, but I really feel baby will come when he is ready :-/ ALso I would try a breast pump! I am doing that next time lol

All of this. There is absolutely no reason (aside from medical) to be induced. With proper monitoring, it's safe to carry a pregnancy several weeks past your EDD.
