Cloudy Urine

posted 5th Jun '08
I don't want to be gross or anything but, I have noticed that my urine is cloudy some times, mostly of the time at the end of the day. I don't have any symptoms of a UTI or a yeast infection or anything. I'm just wondering if this is caused by taking prenatal vitamins? I take them every morning. I'm also about 8 weeks pregnant. I just need some advise, andI'm alsoseeing my doctor next week.

I am almost 8 weeks too. I was just informed that I do have a UTI. (They check for this at your first appt. ) But anywho, I never had ANY symptoms at all except my urine smelled strong and it was cloudy. SO my question to you is have you noticed the smell of your urine more lately?, Is it darker? and be sure you mention this to your doctor. I am on antibiotics for a week. 1pill twice a day. Also when you dont have any symptoms its called an Asymptomatic UTI. You could have that.

No none of that it's just cloudy some times. It just makes me worry alot. But this is also my first child so I'm not 100% sure about it. But, I will be telling my doctor. I just hope that if it is a UTI or somthing that it wont harm my baby.

UTI's wont harm your baby. Its in your urinary tract which is apart from reproductive system. Although a UTIUNTREATED can pose as a risk, thats why they check for those things at your first appt. Dont worry you will be fine. Also keep in mind that your hormones are changing too. either way its no biggie!

Yes, ask your doctor to be checked for a UTI, but most likely you are just dehydrated. I know when I'm dehydrated my urine can get cloudy and darker than usual. Significantly increase your water intake, and you will most likely notice a significantimprovement.

***** just throwin in my 2cents *******

Idnt havve any infections and not dehydrated and my own is always cloudy... i think it has to do with the pregnancy cause i went without my prenatals for a week or 2 and it didnt help... the doctors are constantly checkin to make sure i dnt have an infection or dehydrated and apparantly its just the pregnancy so i add it up 2 another one of those crazy prego things and dont worry about it anymore lol... oh by da way im 32 weeks so idk if that helps

I posted this same topic and the girls on here were really helpful. Alot of them were actually right. When I had cloudy urine, I was SEVERELY dehydrated and didn't know it. Then about a week into my dehydration, I had to get my "gender" ultrasound. I was so dehydrated that I showed low amniotic fluid. I started to drink a gallon of water a day and then a week later when I had another ultrasound, my fluids were no longer low. They were normal rate and Julian was fine. So, I think that you could possibly be dehydrated. Another thing that my doctor told me is if your urine is VERY yellow and you can smell it while using the bathroom (Idk if you can but FYI) that usually means your dehydrated and pregnant women should consume atleast a gallon of water a day. =] So just keep some water by you and then when you use the bathroom, if your urine is almost clear, that's a GREAT thing!

I hope I helped a little. =]

i think if you had a UTI you would know it. I have posted this a million times and i have no idea why doctors don't tell people this but Cranberry juice is the way to go. 100% cranberry juice (like ocean spray) is FULL of antioxidants that clean out your bladder and kidneys. It is a GREAT way to prevent UTI's and it is good for you.

If you don't like the taste of the juice as it can be a little bitter they also have cranberry tablets that do the same thing. You take them like a vitamin. You can get them at just about any pharmacy (wal-mart will have them for sure) and they are not expensive.
