lets try this again

posted 3rd Jan
So 2012 was supposed to be my year. Nothing but positive changes blabbity blah. Yep plans got ruined a month in when I found out I was pregnant. So this year I'm making it my damn mission that nothing gets in my way. I am sick of feeling like smurf about myself. Physically and mentally. I need to get my anxiety in check so I can somewhat function normally and I need to lose a crap ton of weight so I don't feel like crawling out of my own skin constantly. So I need help when it comes to healthier food options. I love veggies and plan on incorporating them into every meal and snack but I'm not very big on meats. I can do pieces of chicken in salads and turkey wraps but that's about it. I need variety to keep it from getting boring and me wanting to stray to more taste junky options. Any good recipes or things you eat that are healthy and low carbish?

I would find a way to add more protein to your diet because protein and fat are what's most satiating. Doesn't have to be meat! Cheese is fattening but goes a long way in satiety, as well as peanut butter. Greek yogurt is good too.

Cottage cheese with fruit.
Nuts to munch on (sounds funny)
greek yougurt with honey
Fruit with peanut butter..these are ideas for snacks that are pretty good in fiber.

Dinners I did fish with wild rice and steamed veggies
Baked chicken breast with veggies and a carb
Spinach salad with dried cranberries and manderin slices and baslamic vinger.
Tons of good food ideas!! just google healthy snack/meal ideas.

Ooo I forgot about cheese. I had very good results snacking on cheese and peanut butter years and years ago I can't believe I forgot about that. I'll have to look into the yogurt. I love yogurt for breakfast but never had Greek yogurt.

Greek yogurt can be sour if you do plain but I love it. I just had the honey and it makes it taste amazing!
Its not your normal yogurt. But keep an open mind about it!

Oh man thank you. Fish and seafood completely escaped my mind. I was sitting here thinking that there had to be something more besides pork, chicken, turkey, and beef. Thank you for the ideas, they sound delish! And lol at the munching on nutts, already do that for snacks ;-)

Good question. I've done the south beach diet and yeah I dropped weight super fast but I love my carbs so I gained it all back and then some. Realistically I want carbs here and there in small moderations.

That's similar to what I did. I went very low carb/Atkins for awhile but it wasn't working for me so I added carbs back in moderation. It was a good experience for me though and taught me a lot about eating in a way that I could consume less calories and not be hungry.

Yeah I just couldn't do it, not that extreme of a cut back for a long period of time. I went out and got a bunch of veggies and fish and chicken so its just the matter of actually finding recipes so I'm not eating the same thing constantly. This time around I don't want to try some fad diet, just no junk food and to control how much I eat. My eating habits are horrible. Some days I'll eat once a day, then the next its almost like I binge, weekends are ridiculous because everyone's all about baking and ordering pizza and wings. I lost all my self control when I got pregnant with my first son 5 years ago, time to get it under control again!
