Of course, I read your edited post right after I posted my post (if that makes any sense   ) I get what your saying, and I agree. He should be taught that it isnt ok, but I think there should be a different type of punishment for a first time offense. When I was a kid I saw suspension as a vacation day. My Mom was a single mom with 4 kids, and couldnt afford to take the day off when we got introuble to stay home with us, so I was home alone, and got to do whatever I wanted. To me in school suspension is a much worse form of punishment, and I think even that is a bit harsh for the first offense.

Trust me..boys do this all the time. I tried preventing it..and failed miserably LOL. My 4 year old turns EVERYTHING into a gun.

Yeah although my 4 year old turns everything into a gun, he has always been taught not to point it at people or animals or the tv. We are strict about it too!

I agree and I find suspension for a 6 year old to be useless and more of a lesson for the parents rather than the child. Lol

We would have been suspended so fast. Cowboys and Indians was a daily game at recess and it's sad that people won't let kids be kids and play with imagination even if that involves hand gestures that looks like a gun.

Actually there was...for the same behavior.

I'm not saying the kid should be suspending, but a pattern of behavior like this can be disturbing.

I don't find it disturbing. Cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers, wild west saloon, etc are normal kid games that involve guns. It doesn't mean they will use a real one on someone. Just because we poured fake drinks and played poker during our games of wild west saloon (we loved the movie Maverick) doesn't mean we are now alcoholics or addicted to gambling.

Exactly. My 2 yr old is OBSESSED with finding anything he can or even just using his fingers to fight or "beat up" the "monsters" either on the tv when he's watching scooby doo or ones that he makes up in the hallways and corners of rooms lol. I think it's hilarious and shows he has a good imagination, not something disturbing.

the teenager being suspended??

yeah... the real messed up part is that her poem was in her notebook, and a teacher "saw it". It's not like she was reciting the poem outloud or anything. And I have no idea why the teacher was going through her notebook to begin with.

Apparantely she's in trouble because in her poem she wrote, was something to the effect that she understands being pushed over the edge, she gets why he (Adam Lanza) did what he did, ect, ect.

eh... I don't know, weird.
