If u didn't get to bf immediately after birth...

Are there any mamas who had a baby whisked away after a csection and didn't get to see them, gold them, do skin to skin, or anything for 6 hours after birth? How did you successfully bf them exclusively? My hospital will Hve me pump right away in te recovery room but I'm afraid not getting to do immediate skin to skin, on top of a csection, on top of not Gettig nipple time for hours is going to prevent me from Bfing. Formula is not an option for my child so I'm looking for tips from mamas who may have dealt with skmething like this.

My daughter was in the nicu for 10 days after birth. I couldn't breastfeed her ill day 9 and we breastfed for 5 months... until other issues came up.

Ugh, this happened to me after 12 hours of labor, and my son went into distress. We were sepeated 8 hours, I pumped almost immediately when I woke up. I breastfed for almost 5 months.

They took DS away and I passed out (literally lol) as soon as he was born and I didn't see him for 4 or 5 hours because he was pale and they were warming him up and I was asleep. We had no issues BFing at all when they brought him to me. I didn't really know what I was doing so I let them take him to the nursery and do pretty much everything for him the first day and they just brought him to me when he was hungry or when I asked for him. Mostly I slept a lot the first day. But we had no issues at all. I had trouble getting him to latch at first, but other than that everything was fine. I had a vaginal birth, though.

I did. I did get to hold her about an hour after she was born for like 10 minutes but didnt get to bf. she was in the nicu for 10 hours, was given formula even tho I asked to pump, but as soon as I tried bf'ing she latched right on and had no issues.

So what did u do? Did u get to hold her immediately or was it hours before u saw her? Did u just pump? Did anyone show u pics or videos?

My daughter was rushed to the NICU after birth. She had an intentional blockage and I wasn't able to breastfeed her til we got home 6 weeks later. I just pumped and pumped. The LC was amazing and helped me even after I was discharged. The hospital had awesome pumps and they were available all the time and even donated some to the Ronald McDonald house I was staying at. They made it easy to keep pumping and not give up.

I didn't get to hold or feed my son for over 3 hours after my csection. And we breastfed for 2 1/2 years. It can be done. You just have to stick with it.

My daughter got taken straight to the NICU and I didn't get to hold her until she was 6 hours old. I still exclusively bf but I mostly had to pump. Shes 1 now and still doesn't tolerate holding much so I just did the best I could with pumping.

I didn't have a c-section, but my daughter was taken directly to NICU. I got to hold her for 2 second, then they took her upstairs. I didn't get to breastfeed her until the next day. By then, she'd already had a bottle and didn't want to 'work for' the boob. We had latching issues at first, but got through that. I think it had a permanent impact on my supply, though.

Just constantly pumping until you were able to do nipple time then?

After my c-section, it was 6 hrs before I got to meet her. She was in the NICU for 7 days. But I didnt get to bf her at all. Or any of my kids. I never had milk come in ever.
But I missed the skin to skin, and didnt even get to hold her for over 24 hrs.

I already told SO they are not avowed to give her a bottle or formula. They are only allowed to syringe feed her bm. If that is not follows they will regret the day they messed with me. He's gonna go with her the whole time to advocate for her and start skin to akin with her.

So you don't think that was the Bfing issue though? Since you had the same prob with all your kids?

We're there any tricks you all did to pump better while you were separated? I'm just distraught about this. I hate having so much time to think and dwell on all these issues.
