Her daddy held her for a couple secs. Then they took her from him and took her to the nursery. About an hour later they brought her to the room with a heat lamp. About 30 mins later they took her back to the nursery then transferee her to the nicu. They released me. And I went straight to the other hospital. I pumped. And around day 5 or 6 they fed her my milk. I didn't hold her until day 7.

After DS was born, we had no problems.
But I knew NOTHING about breast feeding and it took soooooo long to get me into another room.
So it took hours for them to help me BF and I think that's why I was unsuccessful.

What'd she eat prior to day 7 just the nutrient stuff or did they supplement her?

I held my son for about 45 minutes after he was born and tried to nurse him, but he wouldn't take it. They took him to the nursery to clean him. He was supposed to come to my room, but he turned purple in the nursery and then stopped breathing. He had to be intubated, and was sent to the NICU, where my 37 weeks 2 day gestation baby was determined premature, due to lung problems and feeding issues.

I pumped for him while he was in the NICU. I was there for almost every feeding, but I only got to feed him and change him and then it was time to leave him alone to sleep and grow. No skin to skin.

When he got home a week later he would only take bottles. I pumped his first two months of life before he rejected the bottle and finally, finally breastfed directly for the first time.

I breastfed him for 16 months.

So as long as I'm pumping in the recovery room you think that'll help? Many nurses have told me to start pumping as soon as I'm all stitched and on recovery. About an hour later at most.

Yepp. My DD was in the NICU on top of it so I didn't get to see her for awhile. When I visited her in the NICU, I did skin to skin & breastfed her as much as I could. When I went back to my room or back home I pumped every 2 hours. When I came back the next day I gave them what I got the night before for bm & then breastfed her most of the time I visited with her. She did get a lot of formula in the NICU, luckily she was always so good on the boobs it didn't effect her. I even had to supplement the first month & a half. I am still fully breastfeeding her & she is 11 months

Yes, I asked for the hospital pump and they brought it to my room. I pumped every hour or two. (I was anxious to say the least. lol)

But it for sure impacted my supply, I struggled to keep it up the entire time I breastfed.

I pumped every two hours and by day 4 I was a milk factory. My daughter had a feeding tube until she was 9 days old so I couldn't actually nurse her and she never got the hang of latching on either but she had only breast milk and I had more than enough to give her.

It was the nutrients stuff. She had a feeding tube for it. She never got a bottle.

Why did they supplement her? They are not allowed to supplement my baby. It'll tear her up if she's anything like the rest of us.

Quoting lolajessup:" <blockquote><b>Quoting crazy coupon lady:</b>" After my c-section, it was 6 hrs before ... [snip!] ... hrs."</blockquote> So you don't think that was the Bfing issue though? Since you had the same prob with all your kids?"

Well she was the only one I didnt get to see right away.
The other one was home birth then my first was a hospital birth too, and I never even had colostrum with any of them, I tried pumping and all that stuff, and never had anything with all 3.

I definitely would!
I didn't even have a pump at that time.
I had decided right then and there I wanted to BF.
And they gave me a pump like, my second day in the hospital.
But it just didn't work out.
He would never latch, and I barely got milk.
So I bottle fed. >.>

I didn't even do that lol. They tried having me pump later on that night but the pump doesn't get much out of my boobs lol. I still get an ounce from each. I have weird boobs.

Ok. Just checking. I don't want her on any formula. Idk If shell need a feeding tube or not. It's all kind of up in the air as to what help she will need. So I just keep praying shell be fine but there's no guarantee.

I couldn't get enough milk out while she was in the NICU.
