re: How much do you live off of a month and what do you and/or S

My husband is the only one working right now. He is an electrician apprentice. He brings home about $2400 after taxes. We don't live paycheck to paycheck, but we don't have a lot of money for extras. After I have this baby I will probably get another job serving at a restaurant to help. We work opposite schedules when I work so we don't have to pay for a babysitter otherwise it wouldn't make any sense for me to work.

Ah, so he knows the stress of this business!! Were in commercial, we do maybe 5% of residential yearly. But I think construction in general is stressful. Im praying after I have this baby SO will have a job, a GOOD job and I can quit mine. I cant be in this field forever with 3 kids, its to demanding and I never have time for my kids.

I bring home about 800-1000/month (except when the college kids are out, we are out so no money during those times because I work at a college) and he brings home 200-720/month (weather and work depending bc he works at a glass company). We get a $170 fs and wic but live okay as long as we watch our spendings..

DH is a union laborer...he brings home anywhere from $4,000 a month to $7,200 depending on what hours he works. Sometimes he's working 6 days a week at 12-14 hours a day tho. We live very comfortably when hes working but hes laid off right now, has been since before thanksgiving, so were living on $2,400/month from unemployment. Were behind on a couple things right now but hopefully he will get called back to work soon   we have definitley learned to put back more in savings :/

Yes hours are long and he does do a lot of overtime that he volunteers for. An example is on day shift he will go in around 4 am and get home around 5 pm. And on 2nds he goes in at 2 pm and doesn't get home till anywhere between 1-4 am on average sometimes later. And then he works a lot of weekends too, but yes the money is great haha. I honestly don't notice it much on days but 2nds suck but that shift sucks for a lot of people.

Depends on the month, as he has a tip job and it can vary. Either barely getting by or living (semi) comfortably with hardly/no "extras." I believe he makes about 2k a month, sometimes less. We have enough for all our bills and necessities, but it only goes so far.

I don't know exactly what SO makes, but around 2000-2400 between the two of it.

We live comfortably, but only because we pay 200 in rent with his parents. If we had to get a place on our own we would be smurfed.

He has so many bills!

On $1300 per month, I Di t think many couples could avoid arguing. That is very difficult.

He is constantly stressed, but tries not to let it show. He's the type that can really handle a lot going on at once, multi-tasking, fast paced types of things. lol His father was a contractor and then when he passed away about 10 years ago SO opened up his own business. So it's something he's been doing since he was a little boy. He makes really good money, so he tries not to complain too much. But YES, lots of stress! I def. couldn't do it lol

Thats good, you learn from what you see your father/family do. I got into this business with my dad as well, he owned this company for 13yrs and sold 2yrs ago. It just became to much for him, my parents went from making about 200k a year to maybe 60k now, they are having such a hard time and I feel so bad! But like I said it took 13yrs for my dad to let it go. He has been in this field since he was 13, he did it for well over 30yrs just a business owner for 13yrs. I work for the new owner now, he is about 150x"s more demanding, its beyond stressful!!

After taxes we bring home about 3800 each a month. I'm a paralegal and he makes cereal. We almost "made" 20k from our beef cattle business but reinvested all of it plus another 20 k. We live comfortably with savings but we have a lot of mouths to feed. ;)

We pay 920 for a 2 bedroom apartment, all other bills are about 1500.

We can't afford to put away for savings, we can't pay our medical bills that r in collections, we get food from the food shelf sometimes.

I am working to get a better job within my company. We will probably pull DD from preschool (12 hours a week and 380 a month for that)

We are attempting to apply for assistance but DH might make too much just on his own. But we pay out the ass a month for medical, his tools, and credit cards.


So I'll admit we are struggling.  

After taxes, I bring in between 2300-2600/month and dh brings in around 6000/month after taxes.
I am a corporate flight coordinator and he runs a restaurant (literally everything at one of the most popular places in the city and it opening up a new one of his own soon)

We have 2 newer cars (2010 and 2011's) which are $267 and $410/month respectively, the usual utilities, a $770/month mortgage, approximately $1200/month for daycare. We live comfortably. We eat out when we want, do what we please. Save a reasonable amount, plus have our 401Ks. We don't have cable (we have basic network channels) or the internet (we use our phones for internet and don't watch tv much)

Living in an affordable house helps. Most of my coworkers have houses 5x as expensive as mine, and bring in less money as a household. I wouldn't want to live house poor like that.

Well and weve never had to go this long with him being laid off so we really didnt kno what to expect :/ oh well, ya live and learn!!! He should be going back in a couple weeks or so then we will be living the dream again lol we live in a single wide trailer that we paid off before DS was born, but all of our other bills are ridiculous. Yes, we have things we could cut back on but we will be just fine when he gets back to work
