Should DCF warn parents? *D&D*

Should DCF warn parents when they are coming?
example #1: An ex friend of mine had been getting papers in the mail from DCF saying someone called on her saying she and the baby's father was neglecting the baby. They scheduled a visit with her to look at the house. So she cleaned the house blah blah, they came. She got more papers in the mail saying other people were calling saying she didn't take care of the baby// When the baby was 3 months old, they sent her a letter saying they were going to come and get the baby. The same day she got that letter she hit him and said she wanted to kill him. He had to go to the hospital where DCF took over.
example #2: A mother on my street does not take care of her kids, they get a bath maybe once a week if that. They wear the same clothes to school all the time. the house is nasty, dirt, old food ( which the 1 yr old eats off the floor
) the step father has been accused a few times of touching his 6 yr old step daughter . hes been arrested once for beating his step son who's about 10 or 11. DCF called her , told her they where coming, the house was cleaned amazingly over night and the LO didn't say anything about her step dad , shes probably scared so i understand..
case closed with dcf
House & kids are still nasty as smurf. nothing has changed.
A neighbor of ours called anonymously a while ago and DCF told her they cant do anything more, they have been the house and everything seemed fine.
****************************
I can see the answers for both side,
*No dcf shouldn't warn the parents that they are coming because if they aren't doing anything wrong then they have nothing to hide.
*No DCF shouldn't warn the parents because if they are doing something wrong they have time to cover up/ clean up/ run away with kids.
*yes DCF should warn the parents so they aren't blind sided when they come.
Whats your opinion?

If they have nothing to hide it shouldn't matter.
No they should not inform them. They don't inform here.

I don't know, maybe warn first time "offenders", then make it known that surprise visits may occur if they re called again.
Obviously if they are called a dozen times, something is probably up.

they cant just send letters and be like, someone told yuour a bad mom, we are taking your kids!
thats silly.
DCF should not have to warn anyone.. thye should just show up and be like surprise!

No, DCF should not warn parents.
Social workers should be able to tell the difference between a filthy, unfit home and a home that needs to be tidied up, you know what I mean?
I think that the majority of the time, notifying the parents being investigated only allows them to hide things. If you're not doing the wrong thing, there's no reason to care anyway.

I believe..that they should tell you they are coming but not say when. I mean they can do a planned visit first, but follow up unexpectantly. The only way you can see how someone really parents..is to just show up.

They absolutely shouldnt inform people. It's better to catch people in their natural state, not putting on a show for someone because they "think" they may get into trouble.

Good point. There is never a time when anyone could show up at my house and have it be deplorable conditions.

Yeah i dont think people should be warned, my house isn't perfectly clean but to be honest with young kids they don't expect it to be immaculate. But i wouldn't be worried if they called me to warn me they were coming. It makes me sick tho that they really don't look into certain cases. Sad for the kids.

Same over here. they will drop by unannounced any time they please.

It's kind of hard because each case is different..those people should NOT have had any warning because holy smurf those kids need to be rescued. But some people are just messy, while their kids are still well loved and perfectly taken care of. There's just extra clutter or house hasen't been cleaned that week and could be bad if someone showed up unannounced at those times :-S Keep calling them on that family, by the way. They HAVE to investigate if multiple reports are made. You tell them everything you said here, history of abuse, severe neglect, accusations of sexual abuse, and the fact that they were warned last time and cleaned the house that one day and make sure to stress how important it is they do a surprise welfare check for the children's sake I hope they handle this smurf properly next time. If you can, make an excuse to go over there, bring them cookies or some toys your kids don't play with as an excuse, ask her for a glass of water and try to snap some pictures when she's out of the room. Any evidence or proof you can get would be ideal
