Screening for children

At what age do people typically take their children for early childhood screening?
What is the process like??

I had my son screened for delays, autism, ect. when he was 2.5 years old.

I guess for kindergarden?? They are advertising it in the community education magazine for 3, 4, 5 year olds. I was just wondering when other people brought their children in.

We don't do those screenings.

They had smurf like that when I was a kid, but not anymore (here at least). I called the school board to ask for an assessment to get DD into school early, and they said 4+ (or turning 4 that year) no exceptions.

Any time after 3 1/2. I just had my daughter's done and it was pretty simple...took about an hour. They did her measurements-hearing-vision-then had her to a bunch of excercises-repeating-stacking blocks-and showed her pictures to describe-some hopping on one foot and walking in a line. They then scored her and talked to us-the parents.
