First word?

posted 3rd Jan
When is it considered a first word? When there is meaning to it, an attachment?? DD has been babbling for a while. The usual mamama dadada bababa yayaya etc. But in the last few days she now looks at me puts her arms up and says Mum. So is this considered her actual first word?? LOL what were your LO's first words?

My dd would call for me by saying Emma emma. Trying to figure out mama. Then she would go emmama, until she figured out mama. I still call it her first word because she was doing the best she could and knew what she was saying. She the. Called dad bob when she called for him until she figured out dada. We wrote it in her baby book what he called us and when. It doesn't really matter, I think it's what you want to consider.

My two year old doesn't even say some of those words lol. I have him in speech therapy so that helps but he has alot of trouble verbally. Its weird too because I have such a big mouth and I am always gabbing lol.

My sons first word was dada which annoyed bc his spem donor was not in the picture. He called me dada and everyone and everything dada till he was like 7 months when he finally called me mama and I met my so and hes been dada every since. The first word is whatever word that comes out first so I would say probably mama. My two year old only says:
mama
dada
pop pop
cat
meow
quack quack
get off
mink (for binkie)
cookie ( which he says more like coookie.. the cookie crisp commerical lol)
hi
oh
uh huh
and i think a few other little ones but he doesnt say aunty or grandma yet or even bye he waves bye but doesnt say it
