oil cleansing method?

posted 3rd Jan
Has anyone ever tried this? Everything I'm reading says it works good. It's probably the only thing I haven't tried for my acne.

If you are curious what I'm talking about lol, it's just a method of using extra virgin olive oil and castor oil in a mixture to wash your face, instead of soap or face washes.

I don't see how that would be very effective. Oil + pores = acne.

Oil dissolves oil. One of the most basic principles of chemistry is that “like dissolves like.” The best way to dissolve a non-polar solvent like sebum/oil, is by using another non-polar solvent similar in composition: other oils. By using the right oils, you can cleanse your pores of dirt and bacteria naturally, gently and effectively, while replacing the dirty oil with beneficial ones extracted from natural botanicals, vegetables and fruit that heal, protect and nourish your skin. When done properly and consistently, the OCM can clear the skin from issues like oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, blackheads, whiteheads and other problems caused by mild to moderate acne–while leaving your skin healthy, balanced and properly moisturized.”

These types of oils attract the oil and dirt in your face. You let it sit for a minute, then use a steaming wash cloth, let the hot cloth sit on your face for a few seconds as the heat soaks up the oil (bringing with it the oil and dirt from your face) then scrub a bit with the cloth and I like to rinse with cold water.

I've used olive oil. It worked great, by skin felt clean & soft. Olive oil wont make you oily/break out because it has the same pH as skin (from what I'm told).

Wet your face w/ warm water, then massage with the oil. Rinse with warm water and a washcloth.

I just use olive oil because it's what I had. Lol

I'm like you though, tried everything! This seems to finally be working and it feels much more natural than the harsh washes and I don't need an added moisturizer like I have in the past.

My skin is so dry and flakey, but then gets really oily throughout the day, plus it's covered with acne. It's so freaking frustrating. Never thought of trying oil before lol.

I've also started taking a zinc supplement, and evening primrose oil capsules 1-2x a day. If my face is feeling dry, I pop open a capsule and put some of the primrose oil on my face after I wash it before bed time.
