It is freaking annoying. This all started not even 2 months after school started they told me he could possibly be held back. I do tell him that he will be held back and won't go to the next grade with his friends but it doesn't seem to bother him.

It is stupid. A lot of kids in kindergarten freeze up for the tests they have to do. I mean, they pull each kid during class time, take them in the back of the room and give them a 5 minute test on letters, sounds and asks them to write the alphabet. Of course kids are going to not want to do it or freeze up.

it just mainly seems like he's doing it to be funny or for the attention & just doesn't realize that it's a serious thing   I'm sorry. I agree w/ the other poster though, maybe a reward system?

That's what I think to. Hopefuly the reward system works for us because I really don't want him held back.

It wont matter to the school at all, if he can do those things at home, and not at school. they only care about what he can do while at school.

I would not reward at all for this, he already knows the stuff so whats the reward for, knowing something you already know? Does not make sense to me.

He needs to understand that he is lying and his lying will get him to stay in the same class next year while his friends get to go somewhere else.

That even lying about what you know is wrong. I would take away tv time and toys and games, and tell him if he does not know the stuff (like he says) then every night after school he has t o sit at the table and practice them over and over agin till he does know them. I will gaurente that will be more effective then rewarding him.
