if you knit I need help

I decided to take up knitting. I have been watching youtube to learn how BUT I am obviously doing something wrong. I cast one and when I start with the first row of knit it is all funky and looks way off. What am I doing wrong? I tried not casting as tight but then its like half is tight with the knit and half of it isn't. UGH help me please.
