Bacon *cooking noob, please help*

posted 3rd Jan
My husband normally makes hamburgers on the stove using a skillet pan. But a few days ago my mom showed me how to do it in the oven on the "broil" setting. It was soooo much easier. BUT I used pre-made frozen patties to do those. Would it work the same way if I make my own patties??? and how long should they stay in the oven? ALSO, I want to put bacon on these. Is it ok to throw the bacon in the oven too (on top of the patties and cheese) instead of cooking it on the stove? I always botch bacon when I cook it on the stove >< How long should the bacon stay in?

sorry for the hodge podge of questions
TIA

If you we're to put bacon on top, then the fat would render onto and into your meat. You might not get and even cook. The bacon package should have baking directions. The key to stove top bacon is to never walk away. I cut mine in half so that the strips don't curl up and cook unevenly.

You can't cook bacon on the burgers - that has to be done separately.

I make bacon in the oven lots of times: http://culinaryarts.about.com/od/breakfastcookery/ht/bacon.htm

And burgers via broiler: http://www.ehow.com/how_5050927_broil-hamburgers-oven.html

No problem! It really is easy peasy. The BEST hing in the broiler is steaks.

If you are a cooking noob, try this site for idea that will make you feel like a pro & it is sooooo simple, especially if you are busy: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ I used it ALL the time when I worked especially. And one thing that always amazes me at how easy & yummy it is is twice baked potatoes.

oooo I love twice baked potatoes!

instead of having to cook the bacon and burgers at separate times, would it be ok to cook it like the article says, but instead of preheating to 400, could I throw it in there while the broiler is preheating???
