help needed for DS testing

i went and got my bloods done on saturday and had an ultrasound on friday ,
well the doctor just rang and told me im high risk for having a child with DS

i am going in on monday to talk to the doc and to discuss having an amnio so they can be sure

has anyone else gone through this , im starting to freak out

the doc said the chances where 1 - 135
due to the measurements being 2 in the ultrasound , im not sure what they found in the blood , and also because im 40 and overweight

any advise please , and has anyone been through this

I wouldn't think much of it. My mom had a 1-45 chance of me having DS. A lot of times the risk are more exaggerated than the actual occurrence.

I personally wouldn't risk doing the amnio simply because it has a risk of miscarriage. And if the amnio comes out positive for DS, the only option you have is abortion. Like I said, personally I would just wait until the baby is born. Unless you're positive you will not be able to care for a child with DS.
