Hey question- when you turn the FF do you move them to the side or keep them in the middle?

No it's not.
It's 1 year and 20lbs in every state.

It's recommended you RF til the child outgrows the seat's limits. RFing as long as possible is best.

yikes till 2? how does that work with tall kids? My daughter was really tall and her legs hung down past the actual car's seat by then LOL She would've had to sit cross legged if we did that I think!

Sitting cross legged is perfectly fine for RF children   There haven't been any cases of broken legs in a RF child in an accident. There are more broken legs for FF.
Kids are flexible, and lots will sit cross legged even when not in a seat so it's no different.

that's perfectly fine!
kids sit crisscross legs over the side of the seat or prop them on the back of the seat. It's actually VERY comfy for them!

DD is my only kid so when I turn her ff (not for a couple years still) do I keep her in the middle or behind a seat?

I don't think it really matters. I've heard the middle is usually the safest if possible though.
