I was at the store earlier and I while I was walking past an isle I happened to glance over and saw a man shoving something down his pants. He had his wife/girlfriend with her and when we made eye contact I knew he was stealing. She gave me that "oh smurf, busted" face. What would you have done?

Probably sounds bad but I wouldn't intervene. I figure they will get caught eventually or karma will get them, but it's none of my business nor is it affecting me negatively.

I would tell the manager OR any store employee.

Unless I was 100% sure he was stealing or saw him actually putting a store product in his pocked I'd say nothing. Plus, by the time you go and tell the manager he'll probably be gone anyways, so still nothing.

Yeh I usually just tell the next employee I see. Though if I saw a mom with a gaggle of kids trying to sneak a few diapers or something important I might just go up and ask flat out if she would like me to buy her a bag of diapers lol

i wouldn't do anything, as bad as that might sound to some people. it's not my place to accuse people of stealing or be policing the store. if the store owners are worried or it's a problem for them, they will have cameras or loss prevention people employed there to take care of that. and i know how it is even with them, and them having to actually SEE you walk out of the store with the item, so.... i said "do nothing".

I didn't say anything, but part of me felt like I should have. My SO works hard for what we have and it isn't fair that people can steal and get away with it. It was definitely an item in the store. It was a skinny flat box, like a picture frame. I was also scared because these people looked trashy, and I had my son with me. Lord knows what they would have done if they knew I told on them.

Yeah its the people who work hard and actually pay for things that get screwed because people steal. When merchandise is stolen the prices of things raise.

When things get stolen someone has to pay for what was stolen. Then general merchandise prices raise so the store can make a profit after paying for stolen goods.

I guess not in all stores. I worked in a store when I was 15 and a lot of people would come and open grape bags or take fruits they would steal smurf from our make-up area or dollar store area and we never raised the prices higher. I'm sure smurf from Walmart gets stolen every single day and if anything their prices are always going lower. At least the ones in HERE.

Please explain why the price of Candy bars went up to a dollar? The price of milk going out.

Prices go up for more than just people stealing, but people stealing things in the long run causes prices to rise.
