co-sleeping

posted 2nd Jan
We've been co-sleeping with DS since day 1 and I'm ready to have my bed back! His crib is right next to our bed but he will not sleep in it! He will take naps but will not sleep through the night. I switch him from our bed to his crib snd not even 5 mins he's up crying! How can I transition him from our bed to his crib?? TIA

I want to know this so bad! I'd like her in her crib for the night at 1. But it seems like we are getting nowhere with it!

I wish I had an answer.
DD is 8 months and will SOMETIMES sleep in her bed for a couple hours. That doesn't happen very often though.

I stick my hand into his crib so he knows I'm there but that doesn't seem to work.

I found LO slept better in another room. Do you have another room for him?

Start with naps. Put him in his crib and let him fuss. If he starts crying, sit on the floor looking towards the door and ignore him. He will get bored and go to sleep.

I had to do it two times with LO and he goes to sleep within 10 minutes of putting him down.

Also, make sure you have a nice bed time routine to wind him down.

DD had no problems transitioning at around 5-6 months. We let her cry for like 10 minutes for 2-3 days. I can already tell that DS isnt going to be that easy. To date he has never fallen asleep without me or DH holding him. In the first few weeks we had to stand and rock him for the full 2 hours that he sleeps.

Every baby is different so you will have to try things out to see what works and it may depend on how much you are willing to let him cry. We wouldnt go longer than 15 mins.
