Painful lump in breast

A few days ago I discovered a lump in my left breast. Today it has become painful. I am 8 weeks postpartum and I breastfed a little at first but no longer am. I'll be seeing the doctor next week but I was wondering if anyone had any similar experience or has an idea as to what this might be?

So your milk is dried up?

Is it red on the outside? It could be mastitis or a clogged duct.
I would look up those before thinking anything worse.

It could be a blocked milk duct... Try having a warm shower and massaging downward every few hours for a couple of days and see if that helps. If not, perhaps get it checked by your doctor  

Oh yeah, my milk has been dried up for several weeks now... Hopefully it isn't anything much worse than that :-/

dont assume anything. Get it checked asap. When I became pregnant with my first pregnancy I found a lump. Everyone told me its my milk duct. I went to my doctors and she wasnt concerned, sd it sounded more like a cyst. We waited over a month before trying to do anything about it and she was unsuccessful at draining it. Booked me for an ultrasound about 5 weeks after finding it and I immediately was sent for a biopsy of it. 2 weeks later got the results that changed my life. Stage 3 breast cancer. I dont want to alarm u, it could be nothing at all. But Do NOT put it off. Mine grew from stage 1 to stage 3 in a total of 7 weeks. Dont let the doctors or anyone tell u cancer doesnt cause pain either. Mine was painful and thats how I noticed the lump. I also had a misscarriage before finding the results of the biopsy. 2011 wasnt a great year for me. Age also doesnt play a factor in it, I was only 24 when diagnosed.
