Constipated toddler. What to do?

DD has been constipated for a few weeks now. I have been giving her lots of juice but it is not working. What would be the best thing for her to help?

If it has been weeks you need to take her in she could be impacted

No more juice especially if it's got fructose or sugar in it. You can try a glycerin suppository, whole fruits and vegetables, lots of water, magnesium supplement for children, and probiotics for kids, daily.

If she hasn't pooped in weeks, definitely the DR. but if you just mean she's been having on and off constipation, try actual grapes, or oatmeal, or PRUNES. Definitely prunes.

Raisins!! Or the dr depending on severity and pain?

As for juices, prune juice or pear juice is probably your best best. but lots and lots of water is definitely best. My daughter struggles with constipation because she doesn't drink milk so instead she eats lots of cheese and yogurt, and cheese is very binding. good luck!

Miralax. One cap full a day, 17g until she is having 1-3 bowel movements a day then you can slowly wean down the dose.

Don't mess around with "occasional constipation". Impaction can happen which can lead to obstruction which can be deadly. My Son was hospitalized at Texas Children's for impacted stool when I *thought* he was regular. Months back he had a bad bout of constipation and that was enough to make him very ill for a month.

Enema if it's been a week.. But use Miralax daily a powder that goes in drink my son has been on it since he was 2. We have been through so much medicine and enemas with same problem.

Thanks. She has a doctor appointment on Friday for this, I just wanted to know what to do in the meantime because she hurts. She screams and she cries. I just got her potty trained but I have to put a diaper on her when she poops mnow because of this. She runs around the house screaming then she will sit on my lap squeezing me until she is done.

Miralax girl!   Poor baby. There is help out there. She needs medication, not dietary changes. Dietary changes come after you get her bowels moving again.

that sounds like a more major problem. definitely consult her doctor.
