I think it's time

posted 2nd Jan
I think it's time to face the facts and stop breastfeeding.
I've noticed lately, Evelynn is never satisfied. She doesn't ever act like she's "full". Last night I nursed her for 30 minutes, after it, she was still hungry... so I caved and gave her a bottle...she ate 6 oz of formula. I feel bad now, I feel like I've been starving her. My boobs don't get like they used to, it always feels like there's barely any milk in there.
If she gets a bottle, she's happy.

I think it's time... she will be 7 months on the 18th. I'm not ready to give up, but I want my baby girl to be full and not hungry

Is she on any solids at all? I would try solids, either jar or BLW before formula.

Does she eat food? You could always keep nursing and feed her solids.

Maybe your boobs aren't getting as full because you started giving formula?

I'm not sure. But I'd keep breastfeeding her. Maybe she just needs more solids?

I am in the same boat with my 5 month old. He hasn't been satisfied with nursing for two months now so we have been supplementing with bottles. I have WIC so I am going to talk to them at my appointment next week and see. I have even let my toddler nurse and he will be two next month. That only helped my supply once and it went back to my baby's normal routine of nursing all day long and he still isn't happy from it. Not to mention the lack in wet diapers:/ I went so long with my oldest and my baby just isn't interested in it.

Give her some pureed table foods, like bananas and stuff like that. and cereal whenever you nurse, it'll help keep her full for longer. Just hang in there, momma. I went through the same thing with my son (ended up just stopping breast feeding and give him formula because I started drying up too much...)

Well if you do decide to give up breastfeeding, at least you did for almost 7 months! That's a lot.

I just feel like I'm failing her.
It's MY fault. I've left her a lot this past week with my mom.
I'm going through alot. I don't want her to feel my anger.
this sucks.

What's done is done. Keep her with you and BF on demand as much as possible. Your supply will build back up and she won't starve in the meantime, don't worry.

aww, don't feel bad you need a break. Just remember the more you nurse the more you will make, the less you nurse the less you make. Giving solids is also supplementing from nursing so if you feel she needs more, start with that. If you are already giving her two or three solid meals a day and nursing and you still feel she needs formula thats ok. Its also ok to let your mom give her formula and solids while you take a break. Your supply won't dry up overnight so don't worry. But remember that your boobs may not ever feel full again. Mine only occasionally feel full if my son sleeps extra long and he is just going to be 5 months. Do what you feel is right though and what you are comfortable with. good luck!

Girl don't feel bad. If you truly want to stop then that's your choice, don't feel bad because of it. But if not, there are other ways to up your supply.
