Bed Rest Question.

posted 2nd Jan
I have my first appointment with a new doctor next week.

I was put on bed rest when I was 25 weeks with my daughter. My question is, Will I most likely be put on bed rest this time around? I'm just not sure how that works. Any personal experience?

Why were you put on bedrest the first time?

If your doctor declares high risk, probably... but if there are no complications, more than likely not.

Then it's possible. I mean... Every pregnancy is completely different. I haven't had any issues that I had with my son this time around. My doctor is just the "wait and see" type. She could have had medical cause to put me on bedrest at 30 weeks, but 30 weeks came and went and I'm still doing okay. I'm "high risk" but she's not going to go beyond monitoring me much more closely unless something looks wrong. I appreciate her positivity, but then again, a lot of doctor's go with the "better to be safe" mentality which is also good. It just totally depends. I would just expect the best while being prepared for the worst.

I really hope not. I've been having a lot of BH contractions so far. Sucks.

I think it just depends on what's going on with this pregnancy. For me, with each pregnancy I was put on some form of bedrest when it was needed. If i was having a lot of contractions, i normally ended up on bedrest. They were more conservative with my 2nd pregnancy (1st pregnancy being treated for PTL/IC) and I spent a good portion of my pregnancy on bedrest. I spent most of the 2nd tri on bedrest with my 3rd when i had some contractions and only a few weeks with my 4th.

I don't think they'd automatically stick you on bedrest at 25 weeks if you aren't having issues that require bedrest.   Good luck!
