how many?

posted 2nd Jan
This is my first pregnancy. I am 19 weeks and 1day and I was wandering how many ultrasounds am I supposed to get throughout my entire pregnancy. I have only had one so far and that was at 9 weeks. I really wanna see what my baby looks like now.

Usually only 1 or 2 unless you are high risk.

You should be getting at least one more, the anatomy scan. That's when they measure the baby's bones, and make sure the organs are present and intact. They typically do that between 18-22 weeks. With my daughter, I only had two. One at 20 weeks, and one at 34 weeks. With this pregnancy, I've already had 3, but it's because I'm considered 'high risk' due to some health conditions.

Ususally only 1-2. First trimester scans are sometimes done, sometimes not. A 20 week anatomy scan is usually a definite. Anything after that-none unless you go to an elective ultrasound place or are high risk.

I would have only had 1 ultrasound, at 18 weeks. I ended up being high risk, so I got 2 a week eventually.

The ONLY benefit to being considered "high risk"!

Yeah, no. I'd rather only have one ultrasound and not have to worry every, single day.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. I am high risk, too, and I'm happy to have sonos that reassure me. Getting to see the baby is enjoyable for me. Sorry if I offended you.

Well I am considered high risk due to critically low clotting factor ( low Platelet count = 8,000 should be around 150,000-250,000)
