Vasa Previa, is when a vessel either from the umbibical cord or placenta is blocking the opening of your cervix. Its dangerous for mother and baby as if a vessel pops or tears it can cut off oxygen to the growing baby and can cause internal bleeding to mother. The only way to deliver is by c section.

It's a condition where fetal blood vessels are exposed and cross the cervical OS, if it goes undiagnosed the vessels usually ruptured when labour starts and the baby will bleed to death. or it can become compressed and cut off oxygen to the baby causing death or serious injury.
but if it gets diagnosed and the baby is delivered early via csection the survival rate is extremely high.
it's considered rare (1 in 2500) but it does happen. mine went undiagnosed, and there's a mama on here that is going through it right now hers was diagnosed thankfully.

in a lot of places it's not routinely checked for, and a lot of doctors are really uneducated about it.

I never heard of it before it happening to us, and looks like not a lot of other moms knew about it either

also, thanks! lol its actually one ring! still have another band to add to it I cant wait lol

I didn't know anything about it until I read your labor story... So even though I knew what it was before your survey I voted no bc I only learned about it after your dd was born.
