If there's is thc in my system when I give birth will my son be taken away?
I live in northern mn and some people say tjat will happen but I've never heard it too happen to anyone I know
And I know a lot of people who smoked during pregnancy.

Some they test, some they don't. Some hospitals do it more than others.

I guess it just depends on if they test you or not.

I am pretty sure they will only test your baby if you have admitted to drug use in your pregnancy or if you sign consent for testing. Otherwise, I do not believe hospitals preform random drugs tests on infants and mothers.

Would he test + or just her? IDK if it transfers to the baby.

They should not have just cause to take your baby away, or to even test for it. My mom works for Social Services in NW MN and they do not take babies away for THC, a mom can go in baked out of her mind giving birth and they can't do anything but check in on the family. THC is thought to not cross the placenta. I have plenty of family that smokes and many that have smoked (weed) throughout pregnancies, in MN.

If they drug test him. In some places they drug test regularly. In most they drug test if you give them a reason to. Also CPS may talk to you but I've heard it's pretty rare to have the baby taken away because of marijuana.

Right and even then unless the mom is like smurfed up on hardcore drugs they are not going to test. And I have heard (not that there have been any legit studies for legality purposes) that THC does not cross the placenta.

call your hospital anonymously, and ask.. i did, and they only test if i looked all drugged up, with i didnt, and they didnt.

I read an article earlier today about how more hospitals are starting to test mother and baby in 2013 for THC. I know someone who tested positive a few years ago and the doctors denied her epidural.

I know a woman who did meth and they tested her placenta and she had her son taken away and put into foster care.

OP, it really depends on the laws in your state. But really, why risk it? If it's something that has happened to other people in the area, then it's very possible it could happen to you.

And she said in her area it has not happened to anybody she knows who have smoked.
