Help with colic/screaming

posted 2nd Jan
My son is almost 5 months old, he is ALWAYS crying. Probably 60-70% of the day he's crying. He rarely sleeps, maybe 2-3 15 minute naps a day and he sleeps for maybe 4-5 hours a night. I don't know what to do to help him, I talked to his doctor and he recommended colic drops, gas drops, gripe water, the expensive colic formula and nothing has worked yet. I'm seriously losing my mind and so very close to a nervous breakdown. And I have no family or anyone to help me or give me a break. I've swaddled, bounced, rocked, went on drives, given him a bath. I don't know what else to do. Im desperate. Any suggestions would help

Have you looked up the symptoms of GERD in infants? That is what DD had but they just kept saying she was colic-y. Finally I pushed and she improved greatly.

I'm sorry you're going through that... you and the baby. It seems like you've tried all you can. Have you tried massaging his/her belly after baths and bottles?

Colic calm. They sell it online and at cvs. It is 18 bucks a bottle but well worth it. Way better than gripe water. I also had my son switched to similar alimintum it's 30 bucks a can. They will grow out of it if its colic but u may go crazy in the mean time

Not too much, but since I switched formulas to Alimentum it seems like he does it more now

Maybe laying him on his tummy most of the time colic is gas related. Watch him but at five months he should have good neck control but some people will not let them sleep on their bellys.also a old wives tale is a very vry very small amount of peppermint extract with a little water omg does that work

Oh, mama. I feel for you so much on this. My daughter had Colic for about seven months. I swear I was going to lose my mind. Nothing worked. I listened to everyone's advice and thought I was doing everything wrong. I also switched to Soy formula and it helped a bit, but not all the way. Also, I would sit in the bathroom with her with the lights and fan on and it seemed like "white noise" would calm her down. I also turned on the vacuum at times and it would put her right to sleep. I know it sounds crazy, but it really helped. Also, a swing helped TREMENDOUSLY. I know how hard it is. Hang in there and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Good luck!
