should i take her to the ER?

posted 2nd Jan
my daughter stepped on a pretty big piece of glass yesterday,my other daughter busted my MIL candy jar and i guess i missed a piece.it was bleeding pretty bad but i got the bleeding to stop and i wrapped her toe with gauze and she seemed fine.the cut is about the length of her toe(second toe) and it didn't look that deep.this morning however she bled through two dressings and it look a lot worse than yesterday..i think she needs stiches but Dh said we could just use the liquid bandaid.he is the type of person who won't go to the doctor for anything.the bleeding has stopped again and my MIL said if the bleeding has stopped then i don't have to go in.should i just go with my gut and take her ?

If it's still bleeding a day later, then yes.

I would atleast bring her to the pedi, those cuts get infected really easily

I think they won't do stitches after a certain amount of time, but if you're worried you could make an appointment with her doctor so it could be looked at.

I would just make sure it doesn't need stitches. It could get infected as well. If you don't take her in be sure to flush it out (do NOT use thick creams) and let it breath as often as possible

I would take her to the pediatrician. After a certain amount of hours (I think 16 or 24) they won't stitch something

I would take her to the pedi not the ER. It isn't emergent since it has been 24 hours. They won't stitch it anyway because it has been too long and would be far more traumatic to cut open again to stitch it. It is probably continuing to bleed because she is using her foot. If you wrapped it real tight and kept the foot elevated then it would probably stop. She is a kid though and probably wouldn't lay down that long with her foot elevated.

Take her in. But I highly doubt they will stitch it since its over 24 hours. She probably needs antibiotics as well

They won't stich after 6 hours. I would just clean it with porixide and keep it coved and clean... I'm with him on the liquid bandage
