Just wondering...

How many ultrasounds have you ladies had without getting the elective ones? Do doctors usually do one after the anatomy scan?

Just one at 20 weeks. Once I had one at 8 due to bleeding and once I had one at 37 due to "measuring small" .

It depends on your doctor.

I only had one at 11w and one at 20w with my first. This time (new doc) I get one every visit at least and since I've had some health problems I've gotten a few in between regular visits too.

I had 5 total. One was really early because I was bleeding. I had the normal anatomy scan. I had one because I was diagnosed with gd, my doctor wasn't very good at it so he sent me to a u/s tech for another. And one at 39 weeks because they thought I seemed small.... And freaked once they realized she Gould be much much bigger especially since I had gd. Without all the health problems my doctor would have just given me the one at 20 weeks.

My doctor only does one at 18 weeks for the anatomy scan. I got 2 with both pregnancies though. First one he did a vaginal US at 9 weeks because they couldn't find the heart beat, I think. Then with this one I was having a lot of pain around 15 weeks so they did one at the hospital.

Well, I had one to get a due date since I never get my period, except occasional spotting, so there was no way to tell unless they saw growth. I did think I was pretty far along at the time and when they could not find the baby I had to go somewhere else and get a second one to check if it was in the tube or not. Turns out I was only 5 weeks and that is why we couldn't see it on regular ultrasound. After a few weeks he couldn't find the heartbeat and gave me another ultrasound. After that I had a nuchal translucency ultrasound. I had another for measurements and to find out the sex. I switched doctors and every check up she gives me an ultrasound because I guess that's her way of doing things. I am going for a growth scan today. In total I have had a good...I'd say 9 ultrasounds lol

I'm not the typical pregnant mom so my answer is actually inappropriate. With my first child I only had the 20 weeks ultrasound. The nurses at the hospital decided since I was there so much and they were bored one night to just play around with the ultrasound machine when I was 34 weeks and accidently found out she was a girl. The next 2 I only had an ultrasound to date the pregnancy between 8 and 10 weeks. My 3rd child passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition at 81 days of age. I have had 3 pregnancies since and they do ultrasounds every 8 weeks to check the condition of the heart and so far with this pregnancy I am only 16 weeks and have had 4 ultrasounds with another scheduled tomorrow. then the 20 week ultrasound scheduled in 4 weeks. And then another Fetal Echo scheduled 4 weeks after that and then another at 32 weeks and then another at 38 weeks because I am not allowed to go near my due date either.

First pregnancy I had one, just at 19 weeks.

Second pregnancy, 4 ultrasounds:
- 7 weeks (bleeding)
- 19 weeks
- 34 weeks to make sure the placenta had moved away from my cervix (it had)
- a day or two before he was born because of health issues, just to make sure he was healthy and I didn't need to be induced right away.
