That's nice.

My son is pretty behind with most things. He was a 24 weeker, so I never push too hard. His sippy is his comfort. He never liked blankets, stuffed animals, thumb sucking, nothing.

i didnt think it was harming him any to give cam a sippy cup at certain times.. like if he was just lounging on the couch and was thirsty i would give him one because i knew if i gave him a regular cup he would make a mess. hes a chugger so it was hard to keep reminding him go slow, take little sips. but most of the time he had a regular cup. we didnt completely throw out every sippy til he was 4

at 12 months. We never brought cups in the car even when they had sippy cups. No eating or drinking in the car at all, for anyone. Thats way to dangerous. If your kid has a straw in their mouth and you slam on the breaks, or eating something, ya does not end well.

But ya 12 months they were right on a regular glass cup.

I normally don't let him drink in the car, but I was thinking about long trips and stuff. I would plan on keeping at least 1 sippy for occasions like that.

Is forcing him to drink from a regular cup torture? I feel so bad not giving him another option throughout the day. But I know if I give him the choice of sippy or open cup, he will always choose the sippy.

I guess that's why it's so hard. It took us FOREVER to get the damn thing out of the bed. Now that's over, I want to get rid of it all together.

If he knows how to use a cup but prefers a sippy why does it matter as long as he gets fluids. My niece is 4 and when she was 3 still liked a sippy or a straw up she knew how to use a regular cup but just rather tote her sippy with her.

I'm not saying it's a big deal. I just want to transition.

What about the option of these cups.

Start with those for the house. My house rule is no cups in the bedrooms, living room rec room ONLY in the kitchen on the table. Thats where it stays. Only exception is a water bottle with a lid on it.

So they keep them on the table, when thirsty they take a drink then go back to wherever and whatever they were doing.
I am using these cups with my 11 month old in her high chair at all her main meals. lol shelikes them.

I never thought about these. He does like straw cups so he would be open to it, and it also has the opening on the top. I'm gonna go find some of these at the dollar store.

Right now I have these:

I liked them because they were short and he didn't have to tip it that much, but I think his problem is he likes the sucking part. That's where the comfort part comes in.

My daughter will be 4 in April and still uses a sippy cup. She knows how to use a regular cup, but Id rather not have a ton of spills. Im not too worried about it. My boys were 3 or 4 when I took it from them.

Thank you! I would have never thought about those. It's a start at least and I know he will use them because of the straw.
