any nurses on?

So i have a torn meniscus and my kneecap is not aligned correctly. I definitely need surgery to repair the tear and they want to clean up my kneecap so it aligns. They cant do it until march 21 and im in such pain I am having a hard time walking. Besides icing it what else can I try? I work 5 days a week so elevating it is not something I can do during the day. Im in such pain that I feel like im such a witch to every one. Any ideas would be appreciated

Do you wear a brace?

Yes and by the end of the day my knee is extremely swollen

Call your ortho and ask about an ice pack brace that you can alternate between during the day. Also, is it possible that you can get off your feet and elevate a little more?


My honest thought is that you might want to see about trying to get the date moved up.

March 21 is there first opening which is totally unacceptable. I wirkbin a dr office so im always up and down

Working in a Dr office they should know about your situation and should accommodate you!!!

They wont. I have talked to them already. I work for the same company as my ortho dr and they put me off until march

Ice it in the form of function.
Elevate it whenever possible.

My knee is 19 times worse today. I called the ortho dr and they cant get me in any sooner. I cant stand this pain and not being able to sleep.

I just can't get past the fact that you work for a Dr and it is clear that you are having a physical issue and they aren't putting you on light duty or something. I am just floored by it.

Honestly, I might start calling around. If you keep this up, you could cause some damage that can't be reparied.

Ive noticed black and blue marks on my knee now. Im worried im going to end up with a knee replacement. God knows what kind of damage I have going on in my knee

Make an apt to be seen in urgent care or something and see what they have to say.

I may go to the walkin but im sure they will say call your orthopedic dr. If I go to the er my copay is $100

I would pay it. If anything, this will light a fire up under them to get you treated properly.

Im just shocked I have to wait. Like my mom said its not elective surgery its something that needs fixing
