re: I am frickin terrified!! military mommas

My husband missed our sons birth because he was doing his desert training at the time. I called the Red Cross and they were no help, at all, it was so strange. (I really think it was just the person I spoke with, something about my husband not being around a phone so way to get a hold of him). He didn't find out he was a daddy until like 12 hours afterwards but he came home two days after James' birth and now he's gone again!
I had one person in the room with me, my labor went so fast my family didn't make the drive from FL but it was still great. It was really layed back and relaxed and I had a good time, as strage as that sounds. I think for me, I felt less pressure not having a million people there. I could have totally made and ass of myself and noone would have known

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

okay i just typed a long thing again and it got deleted so im pretty pissed about it. lol. but at least youll get some practice in before he comes. try to think of all the negative things about him being home. my husband was like " husbands that watch there wives give birth are less sexually attracked to him after so at least we wont have to worry about that" lol i dont know how true that is but it sounded good. but im gonna PT you too. hopefully things will go smoothing and he'll be able to call, can he get on a computer? can you take pictures from your phone and send to an email for him? i have a blackberry so it was easier cause he was on the computer a lot. but thats always a good idea. but hopefully he'll be able to call and luckily for you and mostly him he wont have to hear you screaming on the other end

I had to call them 3 different times. The first time they gave me the run around and kept giving me different numbers to call, the second time they told me they couldn't tell him until the baby was actually born. And finally the third time I got a good person. It was a pain in the ass, I'm glad I wasn't actually in labor trying to make all those phone calls.

Yeah.. I was in labor. I gave up and called the COs wife and she actually called the LT COL and he finally called me hours later! It sucked, but.. It could have been worse. At least I got to talk to him at all

No, he doesn't have any computers or internet access where hes at   Hopefully he'll be able to call. I'm going to leave my cell phone with my dad just in case he calls during.

Thats so true though!! My husband got to come with me to my very first appt. to confirm that I was prego (3 days before he left) and he almost passed out while I was getting a pap smear, lol. I can't imagine him watching me get cut open. Thank goodness we would be in a hospital b/c he would need medical attention, hahaha.

haha my husband is the same way. he said hes throw up if he was home to watch. i was like okay big badtough infantry soldier! but that sucks that he doesnt have internet. if it wasnt for the internet i dont know what id do. like i said i have a blackberry and half my labor i was on AIM talking to my husband i was in excrusiating pain but i wanted to include him the best i could then finally when things got worse and worse he was like okay ill call you. but at least youll have a set date and eventually a set time so he'll know when to call
i hope you keep us updated!
