Getting Mirena Removed Tomorrow!!

posted 1st Jan
So I have had my IUD in for a little over a year and I am getting it removed tomorrow morning so we can try for baby #3. What should I expect? is it good to wait a few cycles afterwards or jump right in? What was your experience(s) with having it removed and getting pregnant afterwards? I have read so many horror stories and not many happy endings it has me a bit worried but I know everyone is different. I know I am going to ask my DR a million questions tomorrow but its nice to talk to people who have ACTUAL real world experiences ya know?

Got pregnant 6 months after. My cycles were smurfed up afterwards, but it didn't stop me from getting pregnant!
Good luck!

What hurt me the most was getting the speculum put in. Getting it pulled out just felt like a dry tampon coming out. I cramped a little bit. Then spotted 2 days later for less than two days. Then a month later I started my period.

Had mine for a year, had it removed in Oct '12, and we've been TTC ever since. No luck yet... It was always super easy for me to get pregnant before, so this is strange for me...

As far as removal, it pinches a sec then you're done.

I had the mirena removed and started ttc right afterwards. It took 4 months to conceive my precious 5 year old but I had a better pregnancy with her than any of my other children.  Good Luck Momma. Oh yeah the 5 year old was my 4th child.

Wait 1 or 2 cycles before actually trying.
I had mine for 2 years and hadn't had a period the whole time. Had it removed in April, and got pregnant right away. I lost the baby.

You're lucky. Getting mine out was the worst pain I've ever felt. It only lasted a few seconds, but holy smurf it hurt. Maybe my doctor was rough...

It depends on the position of the IUD at the time and where you're at in your cycle too since your cervix changes and changes the position of the IUD. That's why some months women can't feel their strings because their cervix has changed.

I don't know if paragard is different in after effects (since I don't know if the hormones make it different) but for what it is worth, I got my paragard out after 2 years and got pregnant a month after.

I a sorry to hear that and I have read about a lot of miscarriages after having it removed.

I plan to get Paragard after the 3rd baby because I did not have a good experience with Mirena.
