Quoting Raptor Jesus:" Edit: I need to clarify that I'm talking about older children here. I definitely co-slept with my son ... [snip!] ... children in bed. I totally understand co-sleeping with younger children though and I definitely miss sleeping with my son. "
Isn't all co-sleeping for the benefit of the parents?! We don't live in caves anymore so it's not a necessity. Both of my children went into their own cot, in their own bedroom from the first night home. I wouldn't have been able to sleep with them in my bed all the time. There were a few nights when I was so tired that we went to sleep after feeding but they were in their own room for the majority of the time. Both my children are very secure and will sleep anywhere all night until after 7am. Even from the age of 6 months if we went on holiday they would sleep in their own room in the caravan.
I certainly wouldn't have sex in front of them or even in the same room whether they knew about it or not. It's disrespectful, I wouldn't want to be in the same bed/room as someone else having sex so why should my child endure it.
