Thanks. 5 more weeks til I cross into viability and I'll celebrate a little that day. Until then I feel like I'm just waiting for the end   after 6 losses its hard to think positive!

After as much bad luck as I've had, not stressing and thinking positive just don't exist. It's all about making it through today.

Hopefully your doc thinks the cerclage is a good idea and you can relax a little more instead of worrying!

I had my first at 33 weeks. Second baby I did the shots and had preterm labor at 24 weeks, thanks to strict bedrest and the shots I made it to 39 weeks. This baby I started the shots at 16 weeks until 35 weeks and I am 37 weeks now!!!   They did their job. We don't know why I had the first so early and probably never will. They watched my cervix very closely this time for shortening and I stayed within normal range. The shots themselves were horrible for me. I react badly to the oil in them but it was totally worth it. Yes they were painful, I ended up with huge welts and golf ball sized lumps that took nearly a full 2 weeks to fully go away. I really dislike the shots but I love the result! Good luck, I hope they work for you  

I started taking the 17p shots at 16 weeks, because my daughter was born at 32 weeks. I am now at 32 weeks with this pregnancy with only 4 more shots to go and so far the shot seems to be working. No signs of preterm labor. However the shot does hurt ( the area where you get it ) for about a day or so after in my case. Also I am Definitely VERY moody for about 2 to 3 days after i get the shot. The nurse that comes to my house to give it to me said that it is a hormone shot so it just gets your hormones all out of wack for a couple days lol. Since we dont have our period i guess it is far for our BD's to have to put up with us for that couple days of moodiness. haha hope this helps.

your freaking me out with the golf ball sized lumps.. was that the first 2 weeks of taking them? I have had an oil base shot before.. the depo. Idk if its like that or not. & yea my son was born at 32 weeks. Bedrest freaks me out. How did you care for your oldest when you was on it? & Do you really have to lay in bed all day?

Oh no! Me and him already argue lol I can see it really happening. thats the week I had my son as well! & yea he don't have to get shots that hurt and give labor.. so thats the least they can deal with huh lol

Sorry don't mean to freak you out. It was horrible, I'm not gonna lie. I am just one of the few that happens to react horribly to them. Hopefully you are not like me   I actually had to send my oldest to stay with my mom and sister while I was on bed rest. I stayed on the couch the whole time! It was not fun but in the end so so worth it. I think it depends on you and your doc as far as how strict it is. I was told that I could not even drive myself, I was not allowed to cook for myself. They said "get up and get a sandwich but do not make a sandwich". Not only did I have the shots but I was also on oral medication and was still having contractions, this was 6 years ago though so I can't remember the name of the meds I was on. I honestly don't know how I made it to 39 weeks with her. This pregnancy has been much easier and I think it has alot to do with the shots and starting them on time. I hope they work for you too!!!

they came in the mail yesterday. nurse is coming by the 10th to give me my first shot! so was your first born over at your moms all the weeks that you were on bedrest? I can't be away from my son more than a day. & I really dont trust anyone to watch him that long either.

I started getting them at 16 weeks in alternating buttcheeks.. honestly it wasn't all that bad.. it stung a little and if the nurse or my mom did it wrong then it would be sore and bruise a little... but as long as the area was massaged a few minutes it was fine.. My husband was taught how to do it as well and did it a few times before he deployed & even he was gentle.. it just got annoying getting poked every week lol i stopped taking them at 33wks (because i had my son) so i can't say that they helped a lot... when the week was almost over i would have a little more contractions than usual but it made no difference really.. i was on terbutiline as well as p17. But i have irritable uterus so nothing really worked except magnesium, which i hope i don't have to do again.

Yes he was gone pretty much the whole time! It was super hard. I did get to see him once in awhile when my mom would bring him to see me or she took me to appointments. It was even worse after DD was born she had surgery unexpectedly and spent 2 months in the hospital. I stayed with her during all that time but left the hospital to visit my son daily.
I gave myself the shots or DH did it for me. I got a couple at the doc office but after that I did most of them until I couldn't reach anymore. I found that going for a walk afterwards helped a little bit with the pain and after that sitting with some eat on it. I am a very small person and I think that may be part of why they were so painful for me. It never made a difference who gave it to me. It hurt just the same whether it was myself, DH or the nurse.

Oh the dreaded magnesium.. Been there.. done that! I freaking hated that medicine.. Worst part of labor ever!! Man I hope I dont have to do that again   So this was your first baby than? & they knew about ur cervix and that is why they gave u the shots?
