Not sure what to say (death related)

A girl I've been friends with off and on for years' grandpa died last night in his sleep. She asked a mutual friend to tell me about it. I have no idea what to say to her. At all. Ideas? Help?

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your grandpa. My thoughts are with you and your family during this time.

I am sorry for your loss. I just want you to know I am here if you need any thing.

There isn't much you can say but being there for them does great things.

I have seen many friends through deaths of love ones. I don't really say much to them, I let them come to me. I let them know I am there but I am not trying to be in their way. I would just be there for her, but give her space in the mean time.

Whatever you say won't seem like it's the right thing for either of you. Offer your condolences and just let her know you're there for her if she needs you.
