Weight not improving?

posted 1st Jan
So at 6 months my son weighed 16 lbs. at 1 year he weighed 18 lbs 5 ounces. he eats 3 times a day and has snacks poops 1 - 2 times a day and pees plenty but his weight has not improved Dr said to bring him by every month. on the 15th we have his 1 year shots but i am afraid that his weight wont improve. He is on table food no more baby food and is on milk doesnt even touch formula anymore.

Any suggestions on what to do to help LO to gain a few pounds?

My daughter is the same way. She's about 25 pounds and she's going to be 4 next week.
In her milk in the morning I used carnation instant breakfast, and fed her food that were healthy but high in fat.
Avacados are good, and she loves smoothies. I just made sure to keep her on whole milk as well.

My son was a year and 18 lbs... Some just dont really gain weight. My son is 5 and a half and only 42 lbs. Is your son on the go a lot? I think I would get a second opinion. The doctor sounds like a quack. If he is eating healthy and he is healthy, then there should be no concern.

My son is teeny almost off the growth chart and not meeting the curve but his dr isn't concerned since he is healthy and meeting milestones he's just a little guy.

Monthly weigh ins seem excessive.

When kids don't gain weight on schedule, the doctors have to be concerned about neglect. Not saying that the OP is neglecting her kid, by any means, but the doctor doesn't live with her, so he doesn't know that. It makes sense that he'd be concerned.

My son's pedi sent us to see a nutritionist at 18 months. I took in a food diary to show that he was eating a lot of good, healthy food. They gave us some tips (Carnation Instant Breakfast in his milk, feed him ice cream at night, lol) and I kept him on whole milk for a while. He's 5 1/2 (almost) and he's almost 40 lbs.

I read somewhere kids that age burn off the calories they need in a day by lunchtime so to give them frequent snacks to help them gain. Healthy though not just cake n cookies stuff. Foods high in calories.

He eats so much like yesterday all he did was eat but he is a hyper active 1 year old. My dr is very good at his job and i trust his judgement. but i dont know what to do about the gaining of weight he never gave me any suggestions. I told him that SO has a high metablolism but i dont think that would play into effect on a one year old. I just dont want SS to come to my house and take my son away because he isnt gaining weight. So far today he has had cheerios an apple and an orange and has been snacking on Lucky charms(not the marshmellows). He has had 2 8 ounce bottles of homo milk as well.

My daughter is 16 pounds and is 17 months old. She gets no cows milk but formula per doctor order. I feed her healthy foods. Such as avocados, vegetables. She eats extremely healthy. Her doctor isn't too concerned.

Whole milk. Avocados.

I think it is crazy. My son was over active when he was 1. I dont think there is anything else you can do besides what you are already doing. If you have concerns as a mother I would start giving him flinstones for more vitamins. I think your son is fine. Keep doing what you are doing.

I know target brand has the gummy vitamins, and you just take 1 instead of 2 for a one year old.

yup. instead of taking 2, you only give them 1.

Lots of proteins. Does he like peanut butter? It's a good, high fat food. I made my son lots of scrambled eggs for breakfast, and fed him cheese with most meals. Also, how is is weight in proportion to his height. My pedi was concerned because my son dropped from the 60th percentile for weight at four months to the 1st at 18 months. That being said, he was only in the 12th percentile for height. If he'd stayed in the 60th for weight, he would have probably been considered obese, so my opinion is that his body was just leveling out.
