Bacterial Vaginitis and period?

Can i use the metrodinazole vaginal gel although I'm bleeding? Would that effect it at all? (asking because Obgyn and triage are closed or I would ask them)

I wouldn't be using any tampons though, strictly pads.

Thank you! I googled and googled and couldn't find a clear answer! And yeah they say nothing but the gel should be inserted into the vagina during the time the medicine is being used.
