Constipation (TMI)

posted 1st Jan
I am 2 weeks 6 days PP and very badly constipated!
Whenever I have a bowel movement (sorry tmi) it cuts me open and it leaves me sat there crying, and when i wipe after, there is a lot of blood from the cut.
I have been since around the 22nd of december and i don't know what to do! I have tried over the counter laxatives and they haven't worked.
It's got to the point where I am scared to go to the toilet and when I need to do a bowel movement I sit on the toilet for about 15 minutes panicking about it. I know that being tense will not help but whenever i have relaxed it is still just as painful!
Please does anyone know any tricks or tips to help me sort this out because i'm really struggling with this

Drink prune juice. I swear by it. Alot of it you'll go. The last time i was constipated i drank 14oz of prune juice and 4oz of water after it. I went to the bathroom and it was watery 45mins later.

Magnesium Citrate.

Its a drink you can buy at walmart or cvs/ walgreens. This is what I was given after a car wreck when I couldn't go #2 for almost 2 weeks. Its only a couple of dollars and it works.

It is much better cold but it's not very good at all. But it works.

Thanks so much! i'll have to go and get some, just the normal out-of-a-carton stuff or does it have to be special stuff?

If you are getting "cut open" you need help from below and not something that will just help you push. The poop is probably rock hard and shaped in a ball.
Yes, take the stuff mentioned above, but do yourself a favor and get some glycerin suppositories. They look like waxy bullets. Stick one up your butt and it will do two things -soften the poop so it can fit thru and provide some lubricant to it moves thru with less pain and trauma.

Colace and the generic firm is a stoll softener. If this keeps happening to you, start taking colace.

Good luck.

Mineral oil was what my doctor recommended, and it was a lifesaver. Just 1 or 2 teaspoons a day.

This...sounds like all suggestions are great, but it also sounds like you need a stool softener. Good luck...it will get better
