why not to reduce fevers or give tylenol or motrin

A lot of info on our body's response to illness with fevers and why they are needed and not to be feared. Febrile seizures are caused by a fever rapidly reducing or increasing at too rapid rates. They do not cause brain damage but are scary and often occur before you know your child has a fever.

I know... But it is so scary!! Especially considering how some lose their hearing or sight after a super high fever. I always wondered about "sweating it out". I'd never try it, but am amazed that some mothers would.

Most of the time the illness causes those side effects not the actual fever. I know of children unknowingly having 108 fevers and still playing like normal. The illness plays a major factor. The symptoms need to be treated and the fever needs to tin its course in almost all cases so the infection can be fought off. That link has an arsenal of information.

Fevers are our friend   And, high fevers will not cause brain damage, unless it is 112, or at 108 for hours and hours. It's really very scary, but understanding what fever really is is very important and you will begin to WANT those fevers when your kiddos are sick.

Yup. A lot of medical intervention nowadays has causes children and people not to even be able to experience normal fevers which is bad on the body. Omg it is scary. My lo was at 102 and I was freaking. I had to put the thermometer away. It eventually broke and her symptoms started subsiding then. Most people are scared of fevers bc they don't know really what they are for.

You just have to worry not to raise or reduce too fast which is what meds like fever reducers and vaccines can do to increase too fast. With sickness there is normally a natural progression up, then it peaks then down.

The white cells increase with a fever, and white cells are good. Its just a shame they didnt have this info when I was a kid. Over here they also tell parents whose child has just been vaccinated, not to give them any medication unless absolutely necessary, because it can dampen the immune response, making the vaccine ineffective.

Yea and fever refucers inhibits the liver so it makes the toxins go straight to the brain. Pro vax or anti vax. Fever reducers are bad. I wish I had known at lo 2 month shots.

My youngest has ran a fever of 103ish several times. Had it been one of my older two, I would have rushed to grab the fever reducers, but knowing what I know now, I don't anymore, and my youngest has never ran a fever for more than a day. And has never had to have antibiotics. He just had strep throat, and guess what? I didn't give him a drop of his script, instead I let his fever run for a day and his body immediately took care of it. NOT saying that antibiotics are never needed, because they are. But most of the time, they are not. We live in a society where you cannot even take your kid into the doctor for a bump on the head without leaving with an antibiotic. I was talking with DH about this last night. Our youngest has had MAYBE 9 vaccines, by 12 months they are supposed to have 26, so that gives you an idea of really how many he has had, and his natural defense system is the best I have seen in a kid. He has had tylenol or motrin MAYBE 4 times his entire life. Twice I think it was for teething, then once when he dropped a brick on his foot, then yesterday morning for a burn on his hand that was really hurting him.

Kudos to you. And you are so right. I think the motrin should only be used as a pain reliever and antibiotics aren't needed 75% of the time. There are so many more affective herbal antivirals, antibacterials and anti fungals. Vitamin c, d3 and cod liver oil are great immune boosters. Nature has many safe remedies.

My lo has a double ear infection. I haveva script for zithromax but I'm.doing garlic and olive oil and it helped instantly. I'm letting it run its course and treating the symptoms not the fever.

It is hard to adjust your way of thinking but reading the waning labels just on motrin and tylenol scare me!

Yes in the 80s we had 10 vaccines now its 38 and up to 6 at

My kids go to bed with vit d3 and vit c. The dr we saw when he had strep throat, we actually went in for a spider bite, but she completely ignored it after hearing him cough   she really pissed me off. I simply asked how much vit c he can have because I was going to boost up the dose and she went on this long rant about how we shouldn't take vitamins because our bodies just pee it out and it's a waste of time and money. Didn't even answer me   Vitamin C is PROVEN to be effective treatment for many illnesses, so no, it's not just a waste of time or money. I'd rather use those than scripts with a million scary side effects. I use animal parade with are whole foods so it is like boosting them up with vit c rich foods not just some pills anyway.

Gave you alcohol during a fever? then covered you with blankets? That is what they do in the dirty... IMO it is playing roulette...

Still not a believer over here. My daughter has had multiple UTIs... Above 105. I think w/o the ER and medical aid she would have suffered. Then again she has a depressed immune system.
