Well said! It really irks me when in-laws (or any family really) give unwanted advice about why we shouldn't EBF or that our babies or our bodies are doing he wrong thing. They aren't! OP, it sounds like your LO is just having a growth spurt. I remember when mine went through one around 6 weeks, eating about every hour for up to 45 minutes. It was rough, but 100% normal. Sounds like you're doing a great job and your SO's family needs to butt out. Keep up your good work!

I think it makes me so livid because my mil said almost the same thing to me! It really angers me. There is nothing wrong with breast milk! They need to get over the fact that some women breastfeed!

Exactly! The same happened to me. MIL told me not to bf, because it didn't work out for her and it caused babies to become too dependent (!!!). She said when SO was 3 days old, she put cereal in his bottle, started shutting his bedroom door and letting him cry himself to sleep. and he began sleeping through the night. I was like .
Crazy bitch.
Now I have a horrible in-law complex. I just dislike them in general

My DD never liked pacis.

My son doesn't like it either. He chews on it or sucks for a few seconds.

Everyone's already given you good advice and whatnot, but I wanted to say that comfort nursing is totally normal and healthy. There is no such thing as too much nursing. It can be inconvenient, but really it's such a short time in the span of his life. My son nursed an hour at a time, every two hours or less, for the first three months of his life (except at night, I was lucky there). My mom would go, what, he wants to nurse AGAIN? Are you sure? But it didn't last forever. It's sad how so many people think formula is a good solution.

Me too! It wasn't the first time mil had demanded I do something that she had no place to demand either. My sil constantly tells me to give up nursing even though she doesn't even have children!

6 weeks they have a huge growth spurt. I had LO attached to my boob 24/7 for 4 days straight...
Any who, we used to offer our finger for comfort nursing (washed hands before obviously). After the 6 weeks spurt we would use the finger, and when he was sucking good and well remove it and pop a paci in. We had to try 4 different kinds before we found one he liked. Oh and till this day if he is fussy we need to make exaggerated sucking noises close to his ear so he starts sucking on it, like he forgets he's supposed to suck lol.
