and for inserts, it depends on how heavy a wetter they are. at newborn age you can get away with one insert for a while. my DD (20 months) is a light wetter and i can sometimes get away with just one insert. two for over night. i prefer bamboo inserts.

I'm worried about night time wetting, my eldest was a heavy urinater and would frequently piss out of disposables >.< So I think I'm going to get a lot of inserts and prefolds....

Definitely look into natural fiber inserts. Bamboo, hemp, organic cotton. Those are all super thirsty while still being trim.

Every diaper works different for each baby. I thought I would love things that I ended up hating. I also really love Simplex Swaddlebees and the BG Elementals. But my guy stopped tolerating cotton after about 15 months for some reason   That's another thing to consider, not all babies will tolerate the same material so getting a variety of inner material is a good idea. And, some brands may not work then work, and vice versa. A good example of that is Rumparooz were terrible on my son. Then I tried them again around a year and I loved the fit. Same with Sunbaby's. Also, for the first 15ish months of his life suedecloth would blister him out in no time. Then he was suddenly fine with it, but then cotton material would blister him out.

LMFAO, yeah they have the stretch to them but they do run a tad smaller. I wouldn't have ever guessed an applecheek would fit a grown woman lol. Fully unsnapped they are about the same size as an applecheek size 2.

i do think they lack a lot of "style". but have been by far some of the best quality diapers i've used. i've tried all different brands and some fitteds and flips/covers. but BGs have been my favorite quality   i wish they did have more prints and less plain colors. but my favorite are Albert and Lovelace   lol

I'm looking at the Alva brand... is there any difference between the cuts of the series? I think it's just in the difference in prints and materials?

Yeah the categories are pretty pointless imo.
But you're right, the differences are the inner(mostly suede cloth but some are micrifleece) and minky or pul outers.
I think they've got some bamboo too

I'll always have a place in my heart(how cheesy does that sound,lmao) for BGs. I started my stash with 3 4.0 pockets and they were so simple and worked great that I decided to CD full time.

But then I discovered alva's, sunbabies and some other cheapie brands and I won't buy anything else. Why pay more for something when the cheap one works just as well lol.
Plus the prints are cuter!

also probably a stupid ?, but when you buy the diapers it's ONLY the diaper, right? Or does each diaper come with an insert too? Or does it just depend on the brand?

It depends on the brand. Alvas and most cheapies cone with one mf or bamboo insert.

I know companies like BG and Rumparooz give you one full size and one newborn insert.

I have 8 bg diapers and 12 sunbaby diapers I wash every 2 days my dd is 10 months and had been cloth diapered for 3 months when I first started I just had the 8bgs and I still made that work washing every day...i plan on getting more but we are kind of on a tight budget right now lol iiicdaskeissavvy
