Insurance Paying For Breastpump?

posted 31st Dec
A lady I work with said that when she had her son (5 years ago), the insurance company - who we still have, plans have not changed - paid for her to get a medical grade breast pump.

If any of you have gone this route, do I call them prior to the baby being born? Is this something that the hospital handles for me?

Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Mine was covered 11 years ago by my insurance, I called ahead of time to be sure and got a Medula at the hospital

Mine only covers one brand; I've got to call and find out what I've got to do to get one (can get either electric or manual)

I would call them before the baby is born and just ask them what the process is.

Okay, so it looks like I should call them closer to my due date and get it all squared away?

Thanks, ladies!

Thank you for asking this. I've been wondering the same.

I called at 20 weeks, the hospital did all the billing to the insurance company after I had my daughter

Wouldn't hurt to call beforehand, but my insurance you have to have a need for it ie going back to work, latch problems, preemie baby etc, plus a doctors note. SO they won't give one till LO is born.

I will be going back to work when the baby is about 3 months old so I would assume they would see the need. Either way, I'll definitely give it a shot.
