congenital hypothyroidism

So on friday I found out my little one has congenital hypothyroidism or ch..my husband and I immediately got books and starting reading as much as possible in the last few days...its pretty scary to find out your babys not perfect but im glad it was caught early enough..with proper medication for the rest of her life she should be as normal as possible...has anyone on here have a child with this condition and how are your children now?...I've read so many stories ranging from great to bad...really would like to hear from other moms and how the dealed with all that comes with it...any thing would be great...

I've never heard of thyroid conditions in children before. Everyone I've ever heard of with it is over 25! You learn something new everyday!

My mum has hypothyroidism and she takes medication. She just isn't meant to eat certain things and is otherwise fine. I'm glad that you've caught it early  

DD was diagnosed with a hashimoto's at 1 yr old, but recently diagnosed with a parathyroid condition that she has had since birth.

Early detection and early intervention, if there are delays, are really key to a successful outcome.

I have hashimotos. I have been on meds since elementary (honestly should have been before that but parents didn't know). Once meds were right I was good to go. I was off meds for a few years and it was terrible.
