something i only recently learned about.. my sister did it.. supposedly its typically a mexican tradition that is now spreading.

the bride and groom have whats called a money dance.. during this dance period anyone can come and dance with the bride and or groom. and when they do they either clip money on your or in a bag (who wants it pinned to your dress/hair/veil!)

my sister did this and ended up with like 1200 dollars. me only having 30 guests dont really want to do it but SO wants to.. i feel weird asking family for money like this. but its mostly his family and he says do it.

Here they call it a dollar dance & there is aline & the maid of honor & best man run it - they give shots to each person as they pay to dance with the bride or groom. It's been like this here forever - as in my parents had one & they got married almost 50 yrs ago. I've never heard of giving the money straight to the bride/groom - here it is collected when you take your shot of liquor (usually they offer something like a small cup of mints to kids & those who don't want to drink.

Here we do "steal the bride". The bridesmaid "steal" the bride and take her somewhere - usually a bar lol - and the groomsmen have to collect a ransom before we bring her back (not a set amount though, that would just be rude lol)

Hmmm weird. I've been to countless of weddings and have never heard of that. And I'm Mexican. Lol that's weird though.

ive never heard of it like that... but then i only know like 5 people that have done it and it was all this way... the only other way ive heard of it being done what someone makes a tree trunk thing and you pin the money on so it makes a "money tree"
